Dems abandon war authority provision

Commentary by hunter seeker:

In view of all of the latest news across the world wide web I have no doubt that we are on the verge of yet another war this time with Iran. It is not a matter of if but when.

Knowing the mechanics of war I have no doubt that there are Special Forces units already situated in Iran ready to paint strategic targets for stealth bombers.

It would seem that the very people we depended on to keep us out of another war are in fact giving the Bush administration the green light for an attack against Iran.

In spite of all the warnings against such an action Bush and Cheney are going to have their little war after all.

I am not a religious person but at this time I must say God help us, God help us all.

Dems abandon war authority provision

By DAVID ESPO and MATTHEW LEE, Associated Press Writers Mon Mar 12, 7:22 PM ET

WASHINGTON – Top House Democrats retreated Monday from an attempt to limit
President Bush’s authority for taking military action against Iran as the leadership concentrated on a looming confrontation with the White House over the Iraq war.

Officials said Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) and other members of the leadership had decided to strip from a major military spending bill a requirement for Bush to gain approval from Congress before moving against Iran.
Conservative Democrats as well as lawmakers concerned about the possible impact on
Israel had argued for the change in strategy.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Iran’s isolation over its nuclear ambitions deepened on Monday as Russia, its closest big power ally, announced indefinite delays to a joint nuclear power project and accused Tehran of abusing its goodwill.
Russia has defied Western concerns to supply arms to Iran, help build the Bushehr nuclear power station and water down sanctions against Tehran in the United Nations, but is now signaling its patience with Iran’s leadership is wearing thin.

US acted like witch hunter in making case for war on Iraq`

London, March 12: Former UN chief weapons inspector Hans Blix has said that the US administration acted like a witch hunter while making out a case to attack Iraq and the British Government replaced “question marks with exclamation marks” in intelligence dossiers.

“They wanted to see anything as evidence that the Iraqis had weapons of mass destruction,” Blix said in an interview broadcast by Britain’s Sky News today.

Blix, who led the UN search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq until June 2003, said a later discredited dossier on Iraq’s weapons programme had deliberately embellished the case for war.

Tony Blair’s government published a dossier before the invasion which claimed Saddam Hussein had stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons and could deploy some within 45 minutes.

“I do think they exercised spin. They put exclamation marks instead of question marks,” Blix said.

One Response to “Dems abandon war authority provision”

  1. Dale Albertson Says:

The Dems are just full of hot air. They don’t want to be seen as abandoning the troops, so they feint instead of parry or thrust. They get hacked down every time. If they were really about saving lives not only of the innocent Iraqi’s but those of US soldiers, they would shut down the congress altogether. But they won’t, the know Bush signed an Executive Order under Homeland Security which will literally dissolve congress and institute martial law, keeping him in power as long as he wants, not only that, within those provisions every major company is targeted for control by US leaders so that the infrastructure won’t collapse. Pay attention people, too much fast food and easy going lifestyle has sedated the people. They couldn’t survive on their own without their government if they wanted to.
