It goes beyond comprehension why the Myanmar Junta government has refused to permit the international community to render aid and assistance its people.
It has become quite obvious by now that the junta is exploiting the situation for all it can.
On Friday, Japan said it will give aid worth $10 million through the U.N. to Myanmar, adding to the massive amounts of aid that has been pledged by foreign governments.
Why I ask? The money is obviously going to go to the junta and the people will be lucky if they see one thin dime!
I checked the state-owned New Light of Myanmar newspaper and the last entry they have is Friday, May 2, 2008. ( http://www.myanmar.com/newspaper/nlm/ ) The cyclone struck on May 3, 2008.
To make matters worse there is a monster storm churning in the South China Sea and looks to be headed toward the coast of south China which could include Myanmar ( again ) as well as its neighbors. We can only watch and see.
And again I ask What of Aung San Suu Kyi? I fear for her safety in these dark times.
